About us

Bird questions, without the birding jargon.

Backyard Bird Answers is for people who notice something outside and want to understand it — even if they don’t know the species name, the technical term, or where to start.

What we’re here to do

Our guides focus on four things: identifying backyard birds, feeding them responsibly, solving common feeder and yard problems, and understanding everyday bird behavior.

We aim to answer the question first, explain why it is happening, show you what to look for, and give you a sensible next step.

How we research

For factual claims about bird biology, feeding and safety, we prioritize reputable bird organizations, universities and primary or expert-backed resources. When we share backyard observations or practical experiments, we label them as observations rather than presenting them as scientific evidence.

What we are not

We are not a replacement for a wildlife rehabilitator, veterinarian or local wildlife authority. If you find an injured bird, a nest in immediate danger or a situation involving wildlife law, use the appropriate local expert.
